From stargazing nights with big telescopes to interactive stargazing talks that really get the audience involved, astronomer Seb Jay at Dark Sky Telescope Hire brings you closer to the stars through fun and entertaining experiences.
Our mission is to ensure your audience enjoys their time out among the stars. With this in mind we plan for all weather eventualities. If clear we’ll use one or more big telescopes for a stargazing adventure where we’ll seek out some of the best sights in the night sky. For daytime events we have a specially adapted telescope to view the sun, and on some occasions we’ll get to see the moon in the daytime sky too!
For cloudy skies we can run an indoor version of the stargazing experience using planetarium software projected onto a screen. This produces a real time image of the night sky from your location, but without the clouds. Depending on the type of event and audience we can add a stargazing adventure talk, interactive orbits activity, a build your own solar system activity and an experiment to find out how much you weigh elsewhere in the solar system.

National Science Week, World Space Week, Stargazing LIVE, Space Launches, Stargazing Events and Dark Sky Events are inspirational for children around the UK. Why not organise a stargazing activity to coincide with one of these events, or simply bring the stars into the classroom to help with KS1 and KS2 space awareness. We’re happy to organise classroom talks, interactive space adventures and evening stargazing sessions.
We work with primary schools, secondary schools, brownies, cubs and scouts packs and science education clubs.
