200mm Skywatcher Dobsonian Reflector Telescope

The 200mm Skywatcher dobsonian is the UK’s most popular telescope for visual astronomy. It is easy to handle and highly portable, so you can move it to any location in your garden for the best views of the night sky. The 20cm aperture size gathers enough light to reveal stunning detail on Jupiter and Mars when high magnifications are used. You’ll also be able to see galaxies, nebulae, comets, star clusters and many thousands of other amazing celestial objects in the night sky too. 

 Assembled from two parts: the telescope tube, which weighs just under 9kg, and the circular wooden base, which weighs about 12kg.

Both parts are relatively easy to lift as separate pieces. Tube length is 1.2 metres, so fits comfortably across the backseat of most small family cars for transportation. The base is 0.5 metres in diameter and 70cm in height. The shape of the base makes it relatively easy to place in a car boot or passenger foot well for transportation.

Set up is simple. The tube slots onto the base from above. Moulded side bearings on the tube itself rest on four saddle side bearings on the base. A tension handle is then screwed in on either side to provide enough tension to angle the tube at whichever height is needed. The whole assembly then slews through 360-degrees on the rotational base.

A 9x50 finderscope is set on top to help you locate objects in the main field of view. As with all of our dobsonian telescopes, the set up is manual. To track an object simply shift the telescope tube slightly to the right and then up or down depending on whether the object you're viewing is rising or setting.

The telescope can be collected from our hire base in Toddington, Bedfordshire by appointment, or we can arrange a delivery / collection service to and from your home address. Hire prices and delivery costs are detailed below.
